The Role

As Country Manager Portugal, you’ll be the driving force behind kencko’s presence and growth in the Portuguese market. This is a highly entrepreneurial role responsible for building and executing our local go-to-market strategy, leading commercial partnerships, driving revenue, and building our local team. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the brand thrives across all channels—retail, e-commerce, and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Market Strategy & Execution

Develop and implement a comprehensive country growth strategy in alignment with kencko’s global goals.

Retail & Channel Expansion

Identify and secure partnerships with top Portuguese retailers, specialty stores, and distribution partners. Negotiate terms, pricing, and promotional plans to drive brand visibility and sell-through.

Team Leadership

Build and manage a high-performing local team, starting from scratch first while showing your grit, and add sales, marketing, and operations roles as needed.

P&L Ownership

Manage the Portuguese P&L, ensuring revenue growth and profitability targets are met.

Brand Activation & Awareness

Partner with the creative team to localize campaigns, drive consumer engagement, and launch new products effectively.

E-Commerce & DTC Support

Align with the DTC Sales Team to coordinate local initiatives to grow our direct-to-consumer business.

Operational Coordination

Collaborate with logistics, finance, business intelligence, and growth teams to ensure flawless execution across all aspects of the business.

Performance Monitoring

Analyze sales and market data to measure performance, identify opportunities, and drive informed decision-making.

Regulatory & Market Compliance

Stay abreast of local regulations affecting food and beverage, ensuring compliance and smooth market operations.

Qualifications & Skills

• 7+ years in commercial FMCG marketing or sales roles (food & beverage preferred)

• Proven success managing retail partnerships and launching/expanding brands in Portugal

• Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills

• Deep understanding of the Portuguese consumer and retail landscape

• Data-driven decision-maker; strong analytical mindset

• Start-up or scale-up experience is highly valued

• Fluent in Portuguese and English; additional languages a plus

• Comfortable with a hybrid model (in-office in Cabra Figa + field travel as needed)
