Our mission is to transform the way sports brands manage, leverage and license their media content. Founded in 2021, ScorePlay is the first AI-powered end-to-end media workspace designed for sports. We've co-constructed a software that helps sports organizations index, manage, distribute, and monetize their videos, live broadcasts and photos on a single platform, enabling their visual storytelling and expanding their online reach and brand. We use AI and data to tag content automatically, which can automate and streamline classification, distribution and production, as well as streamlining video broadcast workflows to better connect ecosystems.

ScorePlay is currently recruiting for a Lead App Developer to work in our Engineering team. You will be accountable for the development and maintenance of our athlete-facing app. This role will work closely with the CTO and Senior App Developer.
At ScorePlay you will be joining a growing company, take ownership and autonomy of your work, and contribute to building a product that changes the sports media landscape. We will provide you with a range of tools here at ScorePlay such as Linear, Notion, Claap and Slack to help you with your work.

ScorePlay is currently recruiting for a Lead App Developer, you will be reporting into the CTO.

Responsibilities
- App Development and Architecture:
- Develop and maintain our player and admin mobile application, leveraging your expertise in React Native.
- Architect scalable and maintainable solutions that meet performance, security, and reliability requirements while considering business impact and long-term ROI.
- Technical Leadership:
- Take ownership of the app development process and provide technical guidance and leadership to the development team.
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications and implementation plans.
- Balance technical priorities with commercial goals, ensuring development timelines align with broader business objectives.
- User Experience Design:
- Create intuitive and engaging user interfaces and experiences that delight our customers.
- Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to iteratively improve the app's design and functionality.
- Quality Assurance and Testing:
- Develop and implement testing strategies to ensure the quality and reliability of the app, including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests.
- Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure code quality, consistency, and adherence to coding standards.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, communicating progress, risks, and opportunities effectively.
- Work closely with business, marketing, and customer support teams to ensure the app aligns with user expectations and business goals.
- Prioritize and manage requests from multiple stakeholders, balancing competing needs while delivering on core objectives.
- Commercial Awareness:
- Identify opportunities to enhance the app's value proposition to both athletes and organisations, driving engagement and retention.
- Understand and incorporate business goals, such as monetization strategies or competitive positioning, into the app's development roadmap.
- Leverage technical solutions to optimize operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design documents, and deployment guides.
- Share knowledge and best practices with team members through code reviews, technical discussions, and mentoring.
- People Management:
- Manage the Senior App Developer.
- Actively mentor junior developers, helping them to grow their technical skills and work cross-functionally within the development team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years experience proven experience as a hands-on app developer, with expertise in React Native. Experience within media is a big plus but not mandatory.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex technical requirements and design effective solutions.
- Experience with app development, user experience design, and integrating business objectives into technical decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and align technical workstreams with commercial priorities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and manage diverse stakeholders.
This position is fully remote and we welcome candidates located in Europe.
