Design is the core and foundation of everything we do at Pixelmatters. We're a design-driven company, always looking for ways to improve our processes and deliver the best possible experiences on the projects we work on. Now, we're looking to expand the Design team with an experienced Principal Designer. And here is where you come in...

Your role is responsible for enabling the design team’s success through the implementation of processes, operational best practices and by supporting the team’s day-to-day deliveries. You will also manage both Product and UX Designers, helping their struggles, skills development and reach their goals. You're craft-oriented and set the bar on the projects’ quality, making sure design outputs meet a top-notch quality. You excel at communication, with pragmatism, and manage expectations promptly.

Some of your day-to-day tasks will include active mentorship and design feedback sessions with direct reports’ to ensure craft quality, supervise the team’s projects and their workflow to make sure the processes are the most appropriate, support projects with strategic input, report the general status and quality of the projects to the Head of Design and write departmental documentation. Additionally, you will be part of evaluation processes of direct reports and responsible for continuously auditing the design workflows.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Principal Designer, Design Manager or similar, having also worked as a Product Designer or similar
  • Clear, cohesive, and proactive communicator
  • Great understanding of English and Portuguese (written and spoken)
  • Knowledge across UX and UI and able to understand the challenges of both areas
  • Understanding of design processes, current tools (such as Figma) and common challenges usually faced during a product design lifecycle
  • Capable of facilitating effective feedback sessions, clearly articulate design rationale, and communicate strategic insights.
  • Strong supervisory, mentoring and leadership skills
  • Solid conflict resolution skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid emotional intelligence levels, with capability to create empathy and build trust among designers, teams, and clients
  • Ability to assess team skills and strengths, leveraging them strategically to achieve goals and maximize impact

Compensation

  • The salary range from this role is between €43,489.00 to €66,589.00 annual gross, which includes meal, vacation and Xmas allowances.
