Our mission is to transform the way sports brands manage, leverage and license their media content. Founded in 2021, ScorePlay is the first AI-powered end-to-end media workspace designed for sports. We've co-constructed a software that helps sports organizations index, manage, distribute, and monetize their videos, live broadcasts and photos on a single platform, enabling their visual storytelling and expanding their online reach and brand. We use AI and data to tag content automatically, which can automate and streamline classification, distribution and production, as well as streamlining video broadcast workflows to better connect ecosystems.

ScorePlay is currently recruiting for a Lead DevOps Engineer to work in our Engineering team. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our sports media platform. This role will work closely with the CTO and Site Reliability Engineer.

At ScorePlay you will be joining a growing company, take ownership and autonomy of your work, and contribute to building a product that changes the sports media landscape. We will provide you with a range of tools here at ScorePlay such as Linear, Notion, Claap and Slack to help you with your work.

ScorePlay is currently recruiting for a Lead DevOps Engineer, you will be reporting into the CTO.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership and Strategy:
  • Define and drive the DevOps strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and key performance indicators.
  • Serve as a technical authority on DevOps best practices, advocating for a culture of automation, scalability, and reliability.
  • Mentor and guide junior DevOps team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.

AWS-related DevOps:

  • Architect and manage robust AWS infrastructure, leveraging best practices, pricing models, and limitations to deliver cost-effective solutions.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment using tools such as Terraform or CDK.

Programming and Scripting:

  • Develop and maintain automation tools and utilities using programming languages such as Python or Go.
  • Partner with developers to optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.

Linux and Networking:

  • Lead efforts in system tuning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for Linux-based environments.
  • Utilize advanced networking skills to improve system stability and optimize network configurations.

Monitoring, Alerting, and Incident Management:

  • Design and implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems with tools like Datadog to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Own the incident management lifecycle, including triage, resolution, postmortem analysis, and implementing preventive measures.

CI/CD Pipelines and Testing:

  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery and deployment.
  • Establish robust testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, to uphold code quality and reliability.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, customer support, and executive leadership to ensure technical efforts align with business priorities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, translating technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on the status of technical initiatives, system health, and potential risks.

Commercial Awareness:

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of business drivers and how technical solutions impact overall organizational goals.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to optimize costs, improve operational efficiency, and deliver value to the business.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations and negotiate contracts to ensure the best return on investment for technical tools and services.

Compliance and Security:

  • Lead initiatives to maintain compliance with SOC2, GDPR, ISO27001, and other relevant frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and technical leadership to ensure adherence to compliance and security standards.
  • Define and uphold technical controls, processes, and documentation required for audit readiness.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 8+ years in a DevOps Engineer role, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or senior capacity.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep experience with AWS, infrastructure as code (Terraform/CDK), CI/CD pipelines, Linux, networking, and monitoring tools.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Go) for automation and tooling.
  • Commercial Awareness: Proven ability to align technical decisions with business goals and optimize costs.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of effectively engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Adept at troubleshooting complex technical issues and implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with SOC2, GDPR, and ISO27001 frameworks and their application in technical environments.


This position is fully remote and we welcome candidates located in Europe.
